Have you considered projects at home? This is a great time for spring cleaning and organizing to purge unnecessary items. You can start by cleaning out one closet or one cabinet and slowly one day at a time, move on and do the next and so on. Don’t try to tackle everything at once, because it can be overwhelming. If you take it slowly, you can clean out and organize your entire home.
Bathrooms are an easy place to start. They are not super overwhelming and you can organize one in an hour or two. Since you are removing items from cabinets, it is advisable to use the opportunity to dust and clean the inside of cabinets also. Throw out any items that are expired or you haven’t used in a few years.
After you finish the bathroom(s), move on to small closets. Remember to donate anything you haven’t used in over a year, and throw out things you can’t donate. From small closets move to bedroom closets and drawers. Take one room at a time. Make piles of the things you want to keep close, the things you want to put away, the things you want to donate and the things you want to throw out.
You can purchase storage bins to put away like-items. I have purchased some at Target and I just drive up and they bring the items to my car. Social distancing at its best. The home office is probably one of the most complicated because you’d have to go through papers and purge. Remember to shred documents with personal information. Lastly, tackle the larger areas such as the kitchen and garage. Don’t forget the great outdoors. Every area of your home inside and out can benefit from cleaning and decluttering.
Organizing your home will leave you with a great sense of accomplishment and will also help you make your home more appealing and comfortable to you. You can also get your family involved. Even children can contribute and it will make them feel as if they’ve helped. If you are planning to sell your home or if you rent and will be moving soon, this is a great time to start packing and decluttering. You can prepare the home for the next step and you won’t be rushing to do it later. Cheers to beginning fresh and to have a more organized home.
